ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Philippine Budget Visualizer is a project of Makati Business Club, Layertech Labs, Bicol University, and the Public Data Analytics Network.
The platform is designed to enhance transparency by making government spending more accessible and understandable to the public. This empowers citizens to engage with the national budget, fostering participation in shaping budget priorities and promoting open data in governance.
The first publicly accessible version of the visualizer was launched on March 6th, 2025 via Zoom Live. The Secretary of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Secretary Amenah Pangandaman and the Secretary of the Department of Information Communications Technology (DICT), Secretary Ivan John Uy, both delivered messages of support for the project during the launching.
The visualizer is developed and being updated and maintained by developers from Layertech Labs, Bicol University, and volunteer Data Scientists from the Public Data Analytics Network. This grassroots-driven initiative is designed to continue evolving based on the demands and feedback of the public.
